SetSquare, quick to follow up his recent CR20xx collection, adds a new set with a diverse range of moods and sounds, this time reaching even deeper into the realms of synthwave and cinematic synth soundtrack music.
"GhostFish: as the first song written for this album, it casts a shadow over everything that came after. With its ominous bass hits, and John Carpenter inspired sequence, GhostFish meanders through the fog... and into the light.
Drexil’s Lift: a dark growling synth movement sets the tone, as an arpeggiated sequence and 4 on the floor kicks slowly take over, to propel things into a climatic ending.
The Hawker Pt. 1 & 2: part travelogue, part ambient drone, these two things collide in a distorted, uneasy mess.
Mondegreen: a broken beat anchors layers of spacey synth bursts, and a haunting 3 note melody.
Kalimbra: along with a bunch of warbling synth flourishes, multiple subtle time signature changes hi-light this ode to early techno.
The Glass Bottom: welcome to the murky depths of “Another World”...
CloakWheel: plodding bass, sweeping synth pads, and sharp claps weave their way along a path to a minimal tinged crescendo.
Vin Surf: a bit of a journey. These glitchy industrial style drum hits carry a heavy, but bouncy bass line into a pensive electric piano riff, resolving into a churning melody.
SealedAir: an Eno and Cluster style ambient vamp, based on an airy, delayed melodic sequence.
KlingKey: more growly synth basses and random glitchy arpeggios swirl around trap style hats and beat. With a Krautrock inspired melody to tie it all together.
Blind Insight: slow pulsing bass plucks work their way through the chord changes, as many arpeggiated synth lines beat against each other in a rhythmic battle.
Motion Glow: a slice of pulsating melancholy to take it all home."
