SetSquare closes out an immensely productive year with his fourth LP release. Yes... four-full length releases over a six month span. His output has shown a familiar format as well as an adventurous progression. This final 12-track saga ties up this series beautifully. Here is the process as described by SetSquare:
"WhiteBoard: Many layers of ambient noise form the basis for this plodding bas heavy opener.
Lap/Lux: melodic sample and hold lines work their way through a pensive beginning, into a four on the floor banger. Filtered rhythmic bursts, and an ominous sequence help carry the momentum until it all crumbles away...
KodaChrome: a gentle chord progression and bass swells meander along, eventually giving way to duelling set of arpeggios.
BlankScreen: noisey, modulated synth drones, serve as the backdrop for a simple yet haunting melody.
PhaseCable No.1 & 2: Two distinct parts, that share melodic sensibilities. An ambient opening section sets the mood, as the stabbing bass notes and synthwave inspired line of the second part, create the momentum.
Set The Controls: a slow, and slightly menacing bass sequence pluses along, as bright flourishes of delayed synths weave their way around it.
CorsError: layers of noise, rhythm and melody all build to a arpeggiated climax.
InterLock: this journey kicks off with a swirling mess of noise, moves through classic drum machine patterns, a treaded piano motif, with a squelchy bass line and straight beat to bring it to a head.
Sample&Holdng On: 3 different S&H circuits weave their way through a foundation of rumbling bass pulses, and ambient noise.
Hoth Ideals: ambient drones, sparse percussion, and a plinky melody allow for a vintage bass sequence to take over in the first half. As things begin to dissipate, a wildly delayed synth explores the Dark Side.
CSY-Machine: A simple two-chord vamp on an old combo organ, along with some choir sounds and Autechre influenced percussion, are the basis for this melancholic closer."
